Princeton University – Neuroscience Building features a custom laminated cast glass façade that wraps the perimeter of the building, creating a distinctive architectural skin that balances privacy, daylight, and durability. TCG Glass developed a custom cast glass texture and a proprietary lamination system engineered for long-term exterior performance, providing a weather-resistant façade capable of withstanding years of exposure to the elements while maintaining its appearance.

The Story
Modern research facilities demand materials that are both functional and architecturally distinctive. For Princeton University’s Neuroscience Building, the design team selected laminated cast glass to create a translucent building envelope that filters light while adding depth and texture to the exterior.
Each panel was manufactured using a custom cast glass texture developed specifically for the project. The glass was then laminated using a custom exterior-rated process designed to withstand moisture, temperature changes, UV exposure, and the demanding conditions of a permanent building façade.
Installed around the entire perimeter of the building, the cast glass façade provides a consistent architectural expression while allowing natural light to penetrate the structure. The ribbed texture introduces changing reflections throughout the day, giving the building a dynamic appearance from every viewing angle.
This project demonstrates how custom laminated cast glass can be engineered for demanding exterior applications, combining durability, weather resistance, and architectural design into a single façade system.
