Glass Flooring

The New Jersey Public Health Environmental and Agricultural Laboratories feature one of TCG Glass’ most visually striking structural glass floor installations. Custom illuminated glass panels transform a simple corridor into an interactive architectural experience, combining structural glass, integrated LED lighting, and custom artwork beneath the walking surface. The result is a dramatic feature that demonstrates how engineering, lighting, and decorative glass can come together in a single installation.

The Story

Educational facilities require materials that perform as well as they look. For Hofstra University, the design team wanted a staircase that would enhance the openness of the interior while standing up to years of heavy daily use by students, faculty, and visitors.

TCG Glass engineered and manufactured custom structural glass stair treads specifically for this installation. Each tread was laminated for strength and incorporates our proprietary GlassGrit™ anti-slip surface, allowing the beauty of the glass to remain visible while providing secure footing in all seasons.

The finished staircase demonstrates how structural glass can become an architectural feature rather than simply a functional element. The combination of textured glass, precision metal fabrication, and warm wood handrails creates a timeless design that continues to perform years after installation.
