Unique Design Challenges:
Creating a large antique mirror feature wall that felt timeless rather than overpowering required careful planning. The project called for individually handcrafted antique mirror panels that would maintain a consistent layout while showcasing the natural variations of each piece. The result is a dramatic architectural focal point that complements the traditional interior, enhances natural and decorative light, and adds warmth and character to the gathering space.

The Story

Large feature walls often require more than a standard mirror to create visual interest. For this South Carolina residence, designers selected handcrafted antique mirror to transform an otherwise conventional fireplace wall into the room’s defining architectural feature.

Rather than using a single oversized mirror, the installation was divided into individual antique mirror panels arranged in a clean grid pattern. This approach reinforces the building’s traditional character while allowing each handcrafted panel to display its own unique antiqued pattern and reflective qualities.



The soft aging, subtle distressing, and natural variations throughout the mirror surface produce an elegant balance between reflection and texture. During the day, the mirror captures ambient light from surrounding windows, while in the evening it beautifully reflects the chandelier positioned directly in front of the fireplace, adding depth and warmth to the gathering space.
