The Story

Located in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village, 6 West 9th Street features structural laminated glass flooring that serves as both an interior walking surface and an exterior walkable skylight. The custom glass panels span multiple levels of the residence, bringing natural daylight deep into the home while creating a striking architectural focal point.

The project required careful engineering to seamlessly transition from interior glass flooring to an exterior skylight system exposed to the elements. Each panel was custom manufactured to meet structural requirements while maintaining the clean, minimalist aesthetic envisioned by the design team.

The completed installation transforms the home’s central circulation space into an open, light-filled environment, demonstrating how structural glass can combine daylighting, functionality, and contemporary design in a luxury residential setting.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can structural glass flooring be used both indoors and outdoors?
